MBA programs are crafted to broaden the horizons of students in various business areas such as management, marketing, accounting, human resources, organizational behavior, and business research. Students have the opportunity to select a specialization to enhance their expertise. An MBA degree equips students with the skills necessary to assume managerial roles in industry, business, or government sectors. Newports Institute offers the following MBA programs tailored to different educational and professional backgrounds:

MBA (3½-Year/7-Semester, 96 Credit Hours)

The Faculty of Management offers a 3½-year, 7-semester program leading to an MBA degree. This program is specifically designed for bachelor graduates with 14 years of education who aim to pursue a career in business and wish to enhance their professional skills. The program provides opportunities to learn specialized business techniques essential to thrive in a challenging and rapidly evolving environment. Students can choose from specializations such as ‘Banking,’ ‘Finance,’ ‘Human Resource Management,’ ‘Information Technology,’ ‘Management,’ and ‘Marketing.’

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates holding a 2-year bachelor’s degree (14 years of education, i.e., BA/B.Sc./B.Com, etc.) from a recognized university/institution with at least 45% marks or a CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.

Assessment of Study Progress

The evaluation of students’ academic progress is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, Graded Moderated Discussion Boards (GMDBs), mid-term, and final term exams. The mid-term and final exams are held at Newports Institute’s designated examination centers and generally account for 80 to 85% of the total marks for a course.

Award of Degree

To qualify for the award of an MBA (3½-year), candidates must complete at least 96 credit hours of coursework over a minimum of 7 semesters with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.30 out of 4.

Scheme of Study

The curriculum may be updated periodically through continuous evaluation to align it with courses offered at top-level international universities. During these reviews, the requirements of the local business and job market are also thoroughly considered. Candidates must complete the following MBA courses.

Project/Internship Report

Students are required to complete a Project/Internship Report worth 3 credit hours in the final semester of their MBA (3½-year) program. The selection of the final project is at the student’s discretion, but consultation with the student advisor is required. Students must submit a detailed report of the Project and may be required to present their findings. Students undertaking an Internship course are required to complete a 6 to 8-week internship in an organization and must obtain an internship letter from the respective organization. Students who are already employed will be exempted from the Internship but are required to submit the Project.

MBA (2½-Year/5-Semester, 72 Credit Hours)

The Faculty of Management offers a 2½-year, 5-semester program culminating in an MBA degree. This program is specifically designed for candidates with 16 years of non-business education who plan to transition into a business career and wish to enhance their professional skills. The program provides opportunities to learn specialized business techniques essential for succeeding in a challenging and rapidly evolving environment. Students can choose from specializations such as ‘Banking,’ ‘Finance,’ ‘Human Resource Management,’ ‘Information Technology,’ ‘Management,’ and ‘Marketing.’

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have 16 years of non-business education (minimum 4 years of post-intermediate education) and hold professional degrees such as B.Sc., B.E (Engineering), B.Sc. Agriculture, LLB, or 4-year BA/BS programs/MBBS, or a Master’s degree in a non-business discipline from a recognized university/institution with at least 45% marks or a CGPA of 2.25 out of 4. BBA 3-year graduates with at least 45% marks or a CGPA of 2.00 out of 4 are also eligible and may receive course exemptions from the university.

Project/Internship Report

Students must complete a Project/Internship Report worth 3 credit hours in the final semester of their MBA (2½ year) program. Students must submit a detailed report of the project and may be required to present their findings. MBA (Executive) 2-Year/4-Semester, 72 Credit Hours

The Faculty of Management offers a 2-year course culminating in an MBA (Executive) degree. This curriculum is developed for candidates having 14 years of education along with 4 years of professional experience in a managerial role who aspire to pursue a career in business and wish to refine their professional business capabilities. The program provides avenues to master advanced business techniques essential for thriving in the competitive and fast-evolving business landscape. Students can choose from various specializations, including ‘Banking,’ ‘Finance,’ ‘Human Resource Management,’ ‘Information Technology,’ ‘Management,’ and ‘Marketing.’

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have at least 14 years of education with 4 years of experience, or 16 years of education with 2 years of experience, meeting the following conditions:

Minimum second division (at least 45% marks).

Experience must be post-qualification in a managerial position.

Public sector employees (Grade 17 or above) or private sector employees (income taxpayers with an NTN).

The Faculty of Management offers a 1½-year program culminating in an MBA degree. This program is designed for Bachelor of Business Administration (4-year program) candidates aiming to enhance their professional skills. The course provides opportunities to develop strategic business techniques necessary to succeed in a complex and rapidly evolving global environment. Students can choose from various areas of concentration, including ‘Banking,’ ‘Economics,’ ‘HR,’ ‘Information Technology,’ ‘Management,’ and ‘Marketing.’

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minimum CGPA of 2.25 out of 4.00 or second division (at least 45% marks) are eligible to apply.
