STUDENT SOCIETIES AT NEWPORTS

Newports Institute of Communications and Economics understands the need of mixing extra-curricular with academics to ensure that students grow in all aspects. Newports Institute believes in empowering students beyond the realm of academics and through extra-curricular activities for overall development. Students are encouraged to join at least one of the following student entities and participate in events taking place throughout the year.
The Sports Society focuses on promoting physical activities and sports among the students. They organize various sports events, tournaments, and training sessions to encourage participation, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
This society is dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices among the students. They organize campaigns, workshops, and tree planting initiatives, and work on community service projects related to environmental conservation.
The Arts & Culture Society aims to nurture and showcase artistic talents among the students. They organize art exhibitions, cultural festivals, theater performances, and other creative events to promote appreciation for various art forms and cultural diversity.
The Drama Society provides a platform for students interested in acting and theater. They organize theatrical productions, workshops, and acting competitions, allowing students to develop their acting skills, stage presence, and storytelling abilities.
The Music Society is dedicated to promoting musical talent and fostering a vibrant musical culture on campus. They organize music concerts, talent shows, workshops, and jamming sessions, providing opportunities for students to showcase their musical abilities and collaborate with fellow musicians.
The Debate & Leadership Society focuses on enhancing students’ communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills. They organize debates, public speaking workshops, leadership development programs, and Model United Nations (MUN) simulations to help students excel in academic and professional settings.
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Newports Chapter is a specialized society for students interested in electrical engineering, electronics, and related fields. They organize technical workshops, seminars, competitions, and projects, providing a platform for students to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
