The Booking, Borrowing, and Renewal Policy aims to ensure equitable access to library resources for the Newports Institute community. It is essential for users to adhere to these guidelines to maintain the integrity of the borrowing system and promote fair sharing of materials among all library patrons.

The borrowing services at the Newport Institute of Communications & Economics Library are extended to all members of the institute community, including faculty, students, and staff. Borrowing privileges, rules, and policies apply to all eligible individuals.

  1. Borrowing Materials: Users can borrow materials from the library by presenting their valid institute identification card at the help desks located within the library premises. The materials available for borrowing include course books, course packs, reference books, and academic journals.

  2. Borrowing Duration: Each book can be borrowed for a period of 7 days. Users should return the borrowed materials within this timeframe to avoid overdue charges and to make them available for other members of the community.

The library reserves the right to recall any material borrowed by an individual if it is required by another user. In such cases, the borrower will be notified, and they are expected to return the material promptly.

  1. Renewal Limit: Borrowers are allowed to renew their borrowed materials twice, subject to availability and unless the material has been recalled.

  2. Renewal Process: To renew a borrowed item, users can visit the help desks in the library or contact library staff through designated communication channels. Renewal requests should be made before the due date to ensure a smooth process. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the library.
Overdue Charges: Users are responsible for returning borrowed materials on time. Failure to do so will result in overdue charges, which are levied for each day the item is late.

Fine Amount: The library establishes the fine amount for overdue materials. The fine rates may be subject to periodic revisions.

Settlement of Fines: Users must settle any overdue charges or fines before borrowing any additional materials or renewing existing loans.

Reporting Loss or Damage: Users should report any lost or damaged materials to the library immediately.

Replacement or Compensation: In the case of lost or severely damaged materials, borrowers will be responsible for replacing the item or providing appropriate compensation as determined by the library.
