Introduction/Description
The Associate Degree in Business Administration is a standard 2-year program designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to begin their professional careers early. This enables them to support themselves and their families.
Note: Candidates with an Associate Degree can advance to the corresponding 4-year BS degree program. Alternatively, students may apply for admission to any 4-year BS degree program (subject to admission eligibility and exemption/transfer of relevant completed courses) as per policy.
Program Objectives
The objectives of this program are as follows:
- To familiarize students with the basics of business.
- To prepare students for entry-level or junior positions or for starting small businesses.
- To help students comprehend the current business environment.
- To provide knowledge for analyzing contemporary business strategies.
- To equip students with up-to-date business concepts.
- To offer a platform where students can apply their creative thinking and achieve success early in their careers.
Admission Eligibility Criteria
Intermediate (equivalent to 12 years of education) with a minimum of 45% marks.
Note
Candidates with ‘A’ levels must provide an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad.
Candidates with less than 45% marks will be eligible for admission after successfully completing a “Zero Semester.”
Course Exemption
Exemptions for courses are not permitted.
Duration
The program is a two-year full-time course spread over four semesters. Each semester includes a minimum of 18 weeks for teaching and examinations.
Assessment of course progress
Methods for assessing students’ academic progress are based on continuous assessment throughout the semester, including assignments, online quizzes, graded discussion boards (GDBs), midterms, and graduations Midterms and graduations are held at VU areas specified and usually 80 to 85 % of the actual totals.
Degree Award
To obtain an Associate Degree in Business, a student must complete a minimum number of hours with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.00 out of 4.00.
