GENERAL ACADEMICS RULES

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The academic year is spread over two semesters, Spring & Fall, during each year and summer semester (optional). The regular semester consists of 8 weeks for special courses. The regular semesters comprises of 16-18 weeks including minimum 15 taught weeks for regular classes, course review/makeup classes, teacher and course evaluation, survey forms, exam preparation and 2 other weeks for Midterm Examination and Final Examination.

ORIENTATION FOR NEW STUDENTS
Orientation is specially designed for all the new students to provide them with information regarding the services, policies and rules, procedures, student responsibilities, faculty members and expectations. The orientation takes place before the start of the new semester.

REGISTRATION & ENROLLMENT RULES

  • After the completion of all the formalities, the applicant will be registered as a bona fide student of the Newports Institute.
  • The applicants will be allocated with a Registration ID number along with an Institute Identity Card issued by the Registrar Office.
  • The students will then be allowed to register for their courses through the Student Portal.

 

ATTENDANCE POLICY

The attendance criteria is as follows:

  • The minimum requirement for a student to complete the semester is at least 75% in EACH course. In case of any exceptions, the concerned department will handle each case individually.
  • Students are required to check their attendance on the Student Portal weekly, in case of discrepancy they are required to contact the relevant Department and Faculty member.
